KABUL, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have inaugurated a new manufacturing factory worth 1 million U.S. dollars in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, according to the official Bakhtar news agency on Thursday.

The factory is designed to produce water and fuel tankers, along with various other industrial equipment. The initiative aims to boost local industrial development and generate employment opportunities for residents in the region, the report said.

Now operational, the factory is expected to meet growing domestic demand for industrial equipment and reduce Afghanistan's dependence on imports.

This project reflects a broader effort to expand domestic production and underscores the role of private sector investment in strengthening the country's economy.
