KABUL, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A total of 398 Afghan prisoners have been released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan since the start of the Eid al-Fitr holidays, marking an increase compared to previous periods, local media Tolo news reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, alongside these prisoners, 220 Afghan refugees were repatriated from Pakistan and, after receiving assistance at the Spin Boldak border, were transported to their home provinces.

While the overall number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan has decreased, the country continues its process of repatriation, including the transfer of prisoners, the report said.

In recent years, Pakistan has regularly repatriated Afghan nationals, including prisoners and refugees, often increasing the transfers during major holidays to manage cross-border movements efficiently.
