ASTANA, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh police have detained 40 people involved in a transnational network recruiting for drug-related crimes, the Kazinform news agency reported on Wednesday.
Organizers of the network used online platforms and social media to lure people with offers of "high-paying jobs," which in fact are related to drug trafficking, said the report, noting that the scheme was coordinated through call centers managing recruitment and drug couriers.
The police have seized synthetic drugs and electronic devices in operations across 11 regions. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the network, the report said. ■
