Pakistan posts 427 mln USD current account surplus in February: central bank

ISLAMABAD, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan recorded a current account surplus of 427 million U.S. dollars in February 2026, the highest level in nearly a year, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday.

According to the data, the February surplus marked a sharp improvement from a revised surplus of 68 million dollars in January 2026, indicating strengthening conditions in the country's external sector.

However, on a cumulative basis, Pakistan posted a current account deficit of 700 million dollars during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (July 2025 to June 2026), compared with a surplus of 479 million dollars during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
