DHAKA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Some 600 international flights have been canceled at two major airports in Bangladesh over the past two weeks following the escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.

According to the authorities, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka witnessed the cancellation of 24 flights on Saturday alone, while Shah Amanat International Airport in the country's southeastern Chattogram seaport city reported seven cancellations on the same day.

The disruptions, which began on Feb. 28, stemmed from heightened tensions in the Middle East as regional countries either closed or imposed restrictions on their airspace.
