KABUL, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Police have discovered 19 kg of opium in the northern Afghanistan Takhar province and arrested its smuggler, provincial police spokesman Nizamudin Omir said Sunday.
The counter-narcotics police discovered the contraband from a passenger bus on Saturday and took into custody an individual for attempting to traffic the illegal drug.
Earlier in similar operations, police discovered 14 kg of illegal drugs from a car in the western Nimroz province on Friday and took into custody its smuggler. ■
