BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The Bruneian government has allocated 480 million Brunei dollars (about 375.2 million U.S. dollars) for development projects in the 2026/2027 fiscal year, a government minister said on Saturday.

Speaking during a Legislative Council meeting, Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, minister at the Prime Minister's Office and second minister of finance and economy, said that 309 million Brunei dollars will support the construction of new school buildings, the development of green buildings, the building of new homes under the government housing scheme, and the improvement of infrastructure supporting economic activities.

Part of the budget will also be used to strengthen information and communications infrastructure for businesses, schools and industrial development. This includes projects such as the creative and cultural industries hub and the development of a community library.

In addition, 22 million Brunei dollars have been set aside to enhance the quality of public services. The funding will support the construction of a vehicle-monitoring system, improvements to the healthcare system, strengthened environmental protection measures, and upgrades to tourist attractions across the country.
