CANBERRA, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Australia has directed the departure of non-essential officials posted to Lebanon due to the "deteriorating security situation" in the region, Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Friday.
A small number of Australian officials will remain in-country to provide consular support to Australians, said Wang on the social media platform X.
She also posted on Thursday night that the government has ordered all non-essential officials based in Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to leave amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, adding "Essential Australian officials will remain in-country to support Australians who need it." ■
