Laos advances efforts in cyber threat prevention

VIENTIANE, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Technology and Communications held a technical seminar on cybersecurity, highlighting its commitment to preventing cyber threats and strengthening organizational network and brand security.

The seminar, held on Wednesday under the theme "Cybersecurity Threat Prevention and Brand Security," was chaired by Khamla Sounnalat, director of the Department of Cyber Security under the Ministry of Technology and Communications. The event was attended by representatives from government agencies, companies, enterprises, and financial institutions, according to the ministry's report on Thursday.

Speaking at the seminar, Khamla highlighted that preventing cyber threats has become a top priority as cyberattacks continue to pose serious risks worldwide. He noted that such threats can lead to major financial losses and disrupt essential services, affecting not only government institutions but also private companies, enterprises and banks.

He emphasized the need for stronger cooperation and preparedness among all sectors to effectively address emerging cybersecurity challenges and safeguard organizational network systems.

The seminar also sought to strengthen collaboration among relevant sectors while promoting the development of cybersecurity knowledge and technical skills for Lao personnel, enabling them to keep pace with the rapidly evolving digital landscape. Participants shared insights and discussed strategies to prevent cyberattacks and enhance the security of organizational networks nationwide.
