JAKARTA, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia, through state-owned energy company Pertamina, is seeking alternative crude oil import sources as tensions in the Middle East disrupt shipping activities.

Simon Aloysius Mantiri, president director of PT Pertamina, said on Thursday that the company has taken anticipatory measures to secure domestic energy supplies by diversifying its import sources.

"Diversifying supply routes is crucial to maintaining fuel availability amid uncertainty in global shipping lanes. We have anticipated the situation by looking for alternative supply sources so that our stock resilience remains secure," Mantiri told reporters in Jakarta.

Mantiri said the company is closely monitoring developments in the region and coordinating with the government and relevant stakeholders.

"We continue to monitor the situation closely and prioritize the safety of our crews and cargo while ensuring that national energy supplies remain stable," he said.
