PHNOM PENH, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn has emphasized the importance of enhancing the country's proactive foreign policy and strategic engagement to strengthen resilience in safeguarding its core national interests.
Sokhonn, who is also a deputy prime minister, made the remarks during the foreign ministry's two-day annual conference that concluded last Friday, said a foreign ministry press release on Tuesday.
He underscored Cambodia's evolving role as a proactive and law-abiding actor on the global stage and efforts to broaden its diplomatic engagement.
The minister highlighted Cambodia's steadfast commitment to multilateralism and its proactive role in upholding the international rules-based order, the press release said.
Sokhonn said the Southeast Asian country is committed to maintaining its neutrality, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while promoting peace, unity, and socio-economic progress.
On relations with neighboring countries, he said that Cambodia holds a principled position to seek a peaceful resolution to all border disputes and differences in accordance with international law and bilateral agreements, and to promote trust and confidence, good neighborliness, and win-win cooperation, the press release said. ■
