JAKARTA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has called on the United States and Israel to stop attacks on Iran and urged Iran to halt strikes against neighboring countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The statement expressed "serious concern" over rising tensions in the Middle East and their broader regional impact, citing reports from Indonesian diplomatic missions in the area.

The Southeast Asian country stressed that all parties must respect international law, particularly the prohibition on using force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

The government also called for restraint and de-escalation, urging dialogue and diplomacy as means to resolve the crisis.

Authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation and its effect on Indonesian citizens in the region, and have prepared contingency plans, including possible repatriation, if conditions require.
