Vietnam's overseas investment jumps 2.3-fold in Jan.-Feb. period

HANOI, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese investors channeled 540.2 million U.S. dollars into overseas projects in the first two months of 2026, up 2.3 times from the same period last year, the Vietnam News Agency reported Sunday, citing the Ministry of Finance's Foreign Investment Agency.

Of the amount, 532.4 million dollars were registered for 36 new projects while 7.8 million dollars were added to three existing ones, representing year-on-year increases of 2.3 times and 1.5 times, respectively, according to the report.

The largest share of 163.8 million dollars was injected into electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air-conditioning production and distribution, accounting for 30.3 percent of the total.

Laos was the leading destination for Vietnamese investment with 176.7 million dollars, ahead of Kyrgyzstan with 149.9 million dollars and Angola with 30 million dollars.
