YANGON, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's manufacturing sector attracted over 204 million U.S. dollars in foreign direct investments in the past ten months of the current fiscal year 2025-2026, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Friday, citing the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).

The Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) permitted 63 enterprises to invest in the manufacturing sector during the period, it said, adding that Chinese companies were the primary investors in the sector.

The country's garment enterprises operate under the Cutting, Making, and Packaging (CMP) system, it added.

In addition to garments, CMP operations produce electronic appliances, footwear, bags, wigs, lenses and cameras, the report said.

Myanmar's garment sector plays a pivotal role in the economic development of the country, it said.
