TASHKENT, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan is seeking to strengthen its defense capability amid rising global tensions and conflicts, the press service of the Uzbek President said in a statement on Tuesday.
During a conference on the issue, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the country's minister of defence reported on efforts to enhance the combat readiness of troops, improve operational training, and furnish the army with modern weapons and equipment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mirziyoyev set further tasks for the continued development of the army and the strengthening of the country's defense capability, the statement said. ■
