KABUL, March 2 (Xinhua) -- More than 1.7 million farming families in Afghanistan are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said, according to local media Tolo news on Monday.
The report highlighted that returnees are particularly vulnerable, with their participation in agricultural activities significantly reduced. FAO called for prompt support to help these families sustain their livelihoods and enhance food security across the country.
Afghanistan's agricultural sector continues to face serious challenges, including limited access to resources, displacement, and economic instability, all of which have severely affected rural communities' ability to maintain productive farming. ■
