ULAN BATOR, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring on Sunday issued a warning of blizzards, dust storms and strong winds that are expected to cause poor visibility.

Blizzards are forecast to hit the eastern provinces of Khentii, Sukhbaatar and Dornod, as well as the central province of Tuv, over the next three days.

Meanwhile, strong winds and dust storms are expected to sweep across the southern Gobi provinces, including Umnugovi and Dornogovi. The average wind speed is estimated at 18 to 24 meters per second, according to the weather monitoring agency.

The agency has urged the public, particularly nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible hazards.

Mongolia has a harsh continental climate, and strong winds, dust storms and snowstorms are common in spring.

In late February, two nomadic herders lost their lives in a blizzard while tending their livestock in Khalkhgol soum of Dornod Province.
