BISHKEK, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's economy has almost tripled over the past five years, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said here on Friday.
In 2020, the country's gross domestic product stood at about 8.3 billion U.S. dollars, and by the end of 2025, it is expected to exceed 22.6 billion dollars.
"Therefore, we can confidently call this a significant achievement and notable growth," Japarov said at a national meeting on Kyrgyzstan's socioeconomic development in 2025 and plans for the coming years.
He said that over the past five years, tax revenues have increased approximately fourfold, customs duties sixfold, and non-tax revenues nearly ninefold. The consolidated budget in 2025 grew 3.5 times compared to that of 2021.
The president also said that over the past four years, the country's average annual real economic growth rate reached 10.2 percent, while international reserves exceeded 10 billion dollars for the first time in Kyrgyzstan's history.
Japarov said that Kyrgyzstan must become a strong, competitive and socially sustainable state in the coming years.
"By 2030, we have set specific goals: to increase GDP per capita to 4,500 dollars and ensure total economic output of at least 30 billion dollars," he said. ■
