Malaysia's labor productivity per hour worked up 3.7 pct in 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's labor productivity per hour worked for 2025 has demonstrated a positive momentum by growing 3.7 percent, with value added per hour worked reaching 44.5 ringgit (about 11.41 U.S. dollars), official data showed Monday.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that labor productivity per employment for the year accelerated 3.4 percent, with value added per employment at 102,672 ringgit per person.

Overall, all sectors recorded stable positive momentum throughout the year.

"Malaysia's labor productivity is well positioned towards a positive outlook in 2026, supported by a stable labor market and sustainable economic performance throughout the year," said the DOSM.

According to the department, the substantial growth in national labor productivity indicates that Malaysia is moving in the right direction, using labor more efficiently.
