SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's consumer sentiment improved for the second straight month on the back of the semiconductor export boom and the stock market rally, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The composite consumer sentiment index (CCSI), which gauges the sentiment of consumers over the economic situation, rose 1.3 points from a month earlier to 112.1 in February after going up 1 point in January, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The consecutive growth was attributed to the semiconductor-driven export growth and the bullish stock market.

The sub-index for the current economic situation increased 5 points to 95 in February compared to the previous month, while the index for economic outlook advanced 4 points to 102.

Inflation expectations, which measure the outlook among consumers over headline inflation for the next 12 months, stood unchanged at 2.6 percent in February on a monthly basis.

The result was based on a survey of 2,262 households conducted from Feb. 4 to 11.
