Foreign trade continues to grow in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nepal posted year-on-year growth in foreign trade over the first seven months of the current 2025-26 fiscal year, with continued increases in both exports and imports, government data showed.

Issuing a seven-month report card of the trade, the Department of Customs said the total volume increased by 15.76 percent to 1.29 trillion Nepali rupees (about 8.88 billion U.S. dollars) between mid-July 2025 and mid-February 2026, up from 1.11 trillion during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

The export volume increased by 32.19 percent to 168.14 billion rupees, while imports reached 1.12 trillion rupees, attaining 13.65 percent growth, according to the report on Wednesday.

India and China continue to remain Nepal's two major trade partners.
