KABUL, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Two separate traffic accidents in the Kishim district of northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province on Friday left one person dead and four others injured, provincial police officials said.
Ehsanullah Kamgar, spokesperson for the Badakhshan Police Command, said that earlier in the day, a collision between a car and a pickup truck killed one person and injured two others.
In a separate accident in the same district, two people were injured and referred to a hospital for treatment.
Traffic accidents are common in the mountainous districts of northern Afghanistan, where narrow roads, harsh winter conditions and increasing traffic have contributed to rising road safety risks. ■
