KABUL, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- A total of 183 development and infrastructure projects have been implemented and put into operation in eastern Afghanistan's Parwan province, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the projects, which include the construction of retaining walls, water canals, and rural roads, were implemented on the outskirts of Salang and Shinwari districts at a cost of 270 million afghanis (over 4.3 million U.S. dollars).

The announcement follows a similar development on Tuesday, when the ministry reported the completion of 162 projects, comprising rural roads, protection walls, and irrigation canals in eastern Laghman province at a cost of more than 4.7 million U.S. dollars.

The Afghan government has pledged to roll out additional development, infrastructure, and agricultural projects nationwide, as part of broader efforts to tackle economic challenges, stimulate local development, and create employment opportunities across the poverty-stricken country.
