NEW DELHI, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- India's Federal Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said Tuesday that his country expects over 200 billion U.S. dollars of investment in AI during the next two years.
The minister made the comments during a press conference on the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
The minister said the summit was receiving a huge response, with people arriving from across the country.
The minister noted strong interest from global CEOs, particularly in deep tech startups and infrastructure projects.
He said India will strive to build a consensus among global leaders on the proper and responsible use of AI so that it can be utilized for the benefit of humanity.
Vaishnaw highlighted that there were real difficulties and hurdles in the AI ecosystem that must be addressed through a techno-legal approach. ■
