MANILA, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Personal remittances from overseas Filipinos surged to a record 3.89 billion U.S. dollars in December 2025, lifting full-year inflows to 39.62 billion dollars, up 3.3 percent from 38.34 billion dollars in 2024, the Philippine central bank said Monday.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said personal remittances include cash transfers sent through banks and informal channels, as well as in-kind transfers.

Cash remittances coursed through banks also reached a historic high of 3.52 billion dollars in December, bringing the 2025 total to 35.63 billion dollars, or 3.3 percent higher than the 34.49 billion dollars recorded a year earlier.

For 2025, cash remittances accounted for 7.3 percent of gross domestic product and 6.4 percent of gross national income, the BSP said.

The United States remained the largest source of cash remittances, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia, the BSP added. Endiem
