KABUL, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Afghan traders and commercial representatives from Russia's Republic of Dagestan have signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) valued at 1.5 million U.S. dollars, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported on Sunday.

The agreements signed here are expected to bolster bilateral trade, create employment and strengthen Afghanistan's commercial ties with Russia, according to the report.

The development marked a step toward deepening economic engagement between Afghan businesses and regional markets.

Russia became the first country to formally recognize the government of Afghanistan in July 2025 and has since moved to deepen and broaden its political, economic, and trade engagement with the country, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
