KABUL, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched 26 development projects in northern Afghanistan's Kunduz province over the past nine months, with a total budget of 201 million afghanis (over 3.19 million dollars), according to the official Bakhtar news agency on Wednesday.

The projects, some of which have already been completed while others are nearing final stages, are aimed at improving urban infrastructure and enhancing living conditions for residents. The initiatives include the construction and rehabilitation of roads, upgrades to drainage systems, and improvements to other essential municipal services.

In western Afghanistan, the Herat municipality has also started work on a major drainage project covering 15 districts of the city. With an allocated budget of 24 million afghanis, the initiative seeks to regulate water flow, prevent seasonal flooding, and address persistent challenges caused by inadequate drainage networks.

Such projects are essential to improving resilience against natural hazards and supporting long-term economic and social growth.
