BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Royal Brunei Customs and Excise Department has confiscated 1,100 cartons of cigarettes, 108 bottles and two cans of alcohol in an operation conducted in Brunei waters.
Two boats believed to be involved in suspicious activities were also seized, the customs said on Tuesday in a statement.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Royal Brunei Police Force.
The customs department advised the public to comply with existing laws and regulations, particularly by refraining from possessing, selling, or purchasing prohibited goods.
Brunei is a sultanate located in Southeast Asia. The laws in Brunei impose strict regulations on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. ■
