KABUL, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) announced on Tuesday the signing of two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international aid organizations to provide essential support to thousands of vulnerable families.
The agreements, signed with the International Rescue Committee and Islamic Relief Worldwide, total more than 1 million U.S. dollars. The aid will benefit 8,240 destitute families across the eastern Kunar, western Ghor, and southern Kandahar provinces, said ANDMA.
According to ANDMA, the assistance will include the distribution of food and non-food items, alongside the implementation of public awareness programs.
The Afghan government reiterated its call for increased investment from both local and international organizations to help address the country's economic challenges and create sustainable employment opportunities. ■
