BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has placed logistics development as a strategic national priority under the Brunei Economic Blueprint and the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Strategic Plan aligned with its 2030 vision, a government minister said on Tuesday.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Shamhary Pengiran Mustapha said the focus reflects the country's commitment to strengthening its logistics sector as a key driver of economic growth and international connectivity.
Under the MTIC 2030 vision, the ministry aspires to foster an integrated, modern and efficient logistics ecosystem that connects air, sea and land transport into a strong national network, the minister said at the inaugural Brunei International Airport Cargo Center (BIACC) Trade and Logistics Expo held near the capital.
Pengiran Shamhary said BIACC plays a vital role in expanding air cargo capacity, improving operational efficiency, strengthening global connectivity and supporting high-value trade flows.
Under the MTIC 2030 vision, the ministry has set clear targets to significantly increase both air and sea cargo movements by 2030, he said.
For air cargo alone, Brunei aims to reach 38,000 tonnes in air cargo movement by 2030, reflecting the country's ambition to position itself as a competitive logistics and air cargo hub in the region. ■
