Kazakh PM instructs national railway to ensure at least 40 mln tons of transit cargo in 2026

ALMATY, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the national railway company, to ensure a transit cargo volume of at least 40 million tons in 2026, the government's press service said Wednesday.

In 2025, rail cargo transit through Kazakhstan rose by more than 20 percent to 33 million tons, according to data published by the company last month.

Bektenov also instructed the company to launch the Moyynty-Kyzylzhar and Darbaza-Maktaaral railway projects by the end of the year, and complete the modernization of the Altynkol-Zhetygen and Beineu-Mangystau sections.
