BANGKOK, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Tuesday that he will initiate the formation of a new government once the Election Commission certifies the results from Sunday's general election.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Anutin emphasized that while his Bhumjaithai Party has received a public mandate to lead the next administration, the process must strictly follow legal protocols.

He also instructed the current cabinet members to continue performing their duties at full capacity until the new administration takes office.

According to preliminary results released by the Election Commission of Thailand on Monday, the Bhumjaithai Party has emerged as the largest party in the House of Representatives.

As of 94 percent of the vote counting, the Bhumjaithai Party captured 193 seats, while the People's Party and the Pheu Thai Party ranked second and third, respectively, with 118 and 74 seats.
