SEOUL, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- A cargo ship has returned to a port in South Korea after a fire broke out in a vehicle aboard on Friday, Yonhap news agency said.
It was reported to the coast guard at around 5:34 p.m. local time (0834 GMT) that the fire occurred at a vehicle on the 9,952-ton cargo ship sailing in waters about 17 km north of the port in the southern resort island of Jeju.
The vessel, heading from the island to the southwestern port city of Mokpo, returned to the port while making self-extinguishing efforts, as there was no issue with its navigation.
There were 28 people on board the ship that was transporting 86 trucks and 41 passenger cars.
The coast guard dispatched patrol vessels and rescue teams to the scene. ■
