MANILA, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Growth in the Philippines' manufacturing output increased in December 2025, with both value and volume measures posting year-on-year gains, data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed on Friday.

The value of production index (VaPI) for manufacturing rose 1.9 percent year-on-year in December 2025, up from the 1 percent decline recorded in November 2025. In December 2024, the VaPI for manufacturing increased by 0.3 percent.

The PSA attributed the uptrend in the annual growth rate of VaPI for manufacturing in December 2025 to the faster annual increase of the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products at 29.5 percent during the month, from 4.4 percent in the previous month.

Similarly, the volume of production index (VoPI) increased by 1 percent in December 2025, from the 1.1 percent decline posted in the previous month. In December 2024, the VoPI recorded an annual increase of 0.5 percent, the data showed.

The uptrend in the year-on-year growth rate of the VoPI for manufacturing in December 2025 was primarily driven by the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, the manufacture of food products, and the manufacture of machinery and equipment except electrical.
