Vietnamese parliament convenes to discuss nuclear power policy, election preparations

HANOI, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of Vietnam's 15th National Assembly (NA) opened its 54th session in Hanoi on Tuesday to deliberate issues related to nuclear power policy and preparations for the next parliamentary election, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man said the committee is set to review and adopt a resolution supplementing mechanisms and policies for investment in the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, according to the report.

The agenda also included consideration and approval of a resolution on the second adjustment of the structure and number of candidates for the 16th NA.

Man stressed that the issues under discussion are of major significance to national energy security as well as preparations for the upcoming NA election.
