TOKYO, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Japan's benchmark Nikkei briefly jumped over 3 percent Tuesday morning as a wide range of shares were bought on Wall Street gains overnight.
At 10:30 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 1,614.86 points, or 3.07 percent, from Monday to 54,270.04.
On the top-tier Prime Market, the main gainers were nonferrous metal, bank and electric appliance issues. ■
