Kazakhstan records 12.2 pct annual inflation in January

ALMATY, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan reported an annual inflation rate of 12.2 percent in January 2026, with monthly inflation reaching 1 percent.

The annual inflation rate in December 2025 was 12.3 percent, while the monthly inflation rate was 0.9 percent.

The Bureau of National Statistics reported on Monday that food prices increased by 12.9 percent in January, a slight decrease from the 13.5 percent rise in December. Prices for non-food goods rose by 11.7 percent, up from 11.1 percent the previous month, while prices for paid services grew by 12 percent and remained unchanged from December.

The largest contributors to annual inflation were food and non-alcoholic beverages at 5.4 percentage points, followed by transport at 1.1 percentage points, and personal care, social protection, and other goods and services at 1 percentage point.
