PHNOM PENH, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's renowned Angkor Archaeological Park received a total of 93,491 international visitors in January 2026, a year-on-year decrease of 36 percent, said a press release on Sunday.

The UNESCO-listed world heritage site made 4.52 million U.S. dollars in revenue from ticket sales in January this year, down 34.5 percent year-on-year, said the press release from the state-owned Angkor Enterprise.

Located in northwest Siem Reap province, the 401-square-km Angkor Archaeological Park, the kingdom's most popular tourist destination, is home to 91 ancient temples, which were built from the ninth to the 13th centuries.

Thourn Sinan, chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia chapter, said that cyber scams and the recent border conflict with Thailand have adversely affected Cambodia's tourism industry.

"It will remain a challenge for the tourism sector in 2026 if we do not root out online scams," he told Xinhua.
