HANOI, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's processed fruit and vegetable exports in 2025 hit a record high of 2.06 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year surge of 42.1 percent, local media VnExpress reported Thursday, citing the Department of Vietnam Customs.
Processed products accounted for about 24 percent of Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable export turnover in the year, compared with just over 20 percent a year earlier, underscoring the growing role of intensive processing in the sector's export structure, the report said.
Export growth was driven by high-value-added items, with processed coconut bringing in some 362 million dollars, pistachios about 361 million dollars, and almonds 183 million dollars, posting year-on-year increases of nearly 57 percent, over 64 percent and nearly 80 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts made up the lion's share of export turnover at 6.05 billion dollars but grew only about 14 percent. ■
