KABUL, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Health inaugurated the country's first national cancer treatment hospital on Thursday in the capital, Kabul, a 200-bed facility designed to reduce the need for patients to seek care abroad.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Public Health Minister Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, who hailed the hospital as a realized dream.
"It is a great pleasure that, together, we are inaugurating the national cancer treatment hospital. This was our dream, achieved through joint efforts, and we will continue striving to provide standardized and high-quality services," Jalali stated.
He emphasized that many Afghan patients have been forced to seek diagnosis and treatment overseas, often encountering significant obstacles such as visa complications. "Therefore, we are striving to provide facilities domestically and put an end to the need for traveling abroad," the minister added. ■
