VIENTIANE, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Inflation in Laos dropped to 5.1 percent in January, down from 5.6 percent in December 2025, according to the latest report from the Lao Statistic Bureau.
According to a report released by the bureau on Wednesday, the highest price rise in January was recorded in the goods and services category, which stood at 32.1 percent. Other categories driving inflation included the housing, water, electricity and gas category at 24.2 percent, the medical care and medicines category at 13.6 percent, and the education category at 11.5 percent.
The Lao central bank, the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL), has set inflation control as one of its key priorities for 2026. ■
