SYDNEY, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Nauru government reaffirms its commitment to the one-China principle that is in line with the basic norms of international relations recognized by the United Nations (UN) and is a broad consensus of the international community, Nauru's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Lionel Aingimea has said.
Aingimea on Monday made the remarks in his speech at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Nauru, marking two years since Nauru and China resumed diplomatic relations and celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year.
There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, Aingimea said, adding that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China.
Under the guidance of the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, Nauru will work with China to jointly commit to the vision of peace and development and build a community with a shared future for mankind, Aingimea said. ■
