PHNOM PENH, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- 1,740 athletes from more than 50 countries and regions took part in the Angkor Ultra Trail held over the weekend at the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia's Siem Reap, according to an official press release on Monday.
The 2026 Angkor Ultra Trail featured six race categories: the 100-kilometer ultra trail, 64-kilometer trail, 42-kilometer trail, 32-kilometer trail, 18-kilometer run and 8-kilometer race.
Canada's Braeden Plein won the men's 100-kilometer event, crossing the finish line in 9 hours, 2 minutes and 47 seconds, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia said.
In the women's 100-kilometer race, China's Shang Xueer claimed victory in 11:13:33.
NOCC President and senior minister Thong Khon called Angkor a place of peace and tranquility, and praised its appeal as a tourist destination.
"I would like to thank all the athletes who have trusted Cambodia as a safe and attractive tourist destination," Thong Khon said at the award ceremony. ■
