COLOMBO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- A presidential commission appointed to investigate alleged irregularities at the Colombo Municipal Council is now soliciting public complaints and information in this regard, the President's Media Division said in a statement on Thursday.

The public is encouraged to provide information regarding irregularities such as fraud, criminal breach of trust, abuse or misuse of power and government resources, and unlawful recruitments that took place from 2010 to 2025, said the statement.

The commission was appointed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake through an extraordinary gazette notification dated Dec. 30, 2025, noted the statement.

Written submissions in Sinhala, Tamil or English must be sent on or before Feb. 23, 2026, it added. The commission is required to submit an interim report within three months and a final report within six months.
