WELLINGTON, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Wednesday announced that the country's general election will be held on Nov. 7, 2026.
Luxon said setting the date early provided "certainty" for New Zealanders and affirmed his National-led government would continue focusing on "fixing the basics and building the future" ahead of the vote.
The prime minister has advised the governor-general of the election date. ■
