VIENTIANE, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Laos welcomed more than 4.5 million foreign visitors in 2025, marking an 11 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Thailand, China, and Vietnam were the top sources of international tourists to Laos in 2025, according to the ministry's latest report last Friday.
The number of foreign arrivals exceeded the government's target of 4.3 million visitors for the year.
Laos aims to attract more than 43 million tourists between 2026 and 2030. To achieve this goal, the ministry plans to upgrade and expand infrastructure at key destinations, develop new attractions, and improve facilities along major tourism routes linking provinces and neighboring countries. ■
