HANOI, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has directed an expansion of night flight operations at six airports nationwide amid forecasts of a sharp rise in air travel demand during the Lunar New Year, local media Voice of Vietnam reported Monday.

The plan will be implemented from Feb. 1 to March 1, 2026.

Operating hours will be extended at Tho Xuan, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai, Pleiku, Tuy Hoa and Phu Cat airports.

Under the plan, Tho Xuan Airport will have the latest operating hours, with flight operations extended until 2:40 a.m.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation has been required to enhance the quality of forecasting and early warning, as well as develop operational plans for abnormal situations, such as adverse weather, infrastructure congestion, or technical incidents.
