PHNOM PENH, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported garments, shoes, and travel goods totally worth 15.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, a year-on-year rise of 15.7 percent, said a Ministry of Commerce's report obtained on Monday.

Garments worth 11.4 billion dollars were exported in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 16.5 percent, the report said, adding that footwear products worth 2.09 billion dollars were shipped to international markets, up 24.5 percent.

Also, travel goods equivalent to 2.02 billion dollars were exported last year, up 3.8 percent, the report said.

The garment, footwear, and travel goods industry is Cambodia's largest foreign exchange earner, accounting for approximately 50 percent of the kingdom's total export value, according to the report.

The sector currently consists of more than 1,500 factories and branches, employing over 900,000 workers, mostly women, according to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

Thong Mengdavid, deputy director of the China-ASEAN Studies Center of the Cambodia University of Technology and Science, said the double-digit growth reflected Cambodia's effective market diversification beyond its traditional trading partners.

"I think the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement has also given a boost to this growth," he told Xinhua. "And this upward trend is likely to continue this year, supported by external demand and new investment inflows from China, South Korea and Japan."
