PHNOM PENH, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's foreign ministry said late Saturday that it has followed the developments in Venezuela with "serious concerns."

"Cambodia strongly advocates for peace and stability in Latin America and beyond," said a ministry's statement.

"Cambodia consistently upholds the importance of peaceful settlement of differences and disputes through dialogue and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, to contribute to peace, security, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world," the statement said.

The statement came after the United States sent forces to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife and took them out of the country on Jan. 3.
