MANILA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- A 68-year-old passenger was killed and eight others were injured after a passenger van crashed into a concrete road barrier in Quezon province, southeast of Manila, before dawn on Thursday, police said.
According to police, the northbound van struck the barrier while traveling along a highway in Lucena City. All passengers and the driver sustained injuries in the accident.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police added.
The injured victims were rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Police said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash. ■
